CVV code on the card

CVV code on the card. What it is?

All kinds of organizations with which you have money to do business have a chance to ask you to set up a CVVV code, which is available on the back of your credit card. This right applies not only to monetary institutions, but also to all kinds of credit institutions. Unfortunately, not all bank card users understand that this is a CVV in a credit card and where the security code is located. It should be stated that depending on what kind of card you have (Visa, Maestro, MasterCard), it is possible to place it in different spaces. Let’s find out what a CVVV is on a credit card and why we need it. CVVVV is an abbreviation for “card authentication code”. You can find it on the back of your card. Whether the card is considered to be a debit or a credit card, this code is always made up of 3 digits.

This indicator was not noticed immediately after the emergence of the banking system. In the course of improving the banking system, it was decided to increase the security of card transactions by creating such a special number. This is a very important function when transferring funds or purchasing products online.

Why do I need this CVV code?

CVVVV credit card validation is a probability to make sure that the user is considered a real cardholder. Almost all people get to know themselves, what is it for? This measure of caution allows you to reduce the number of fraudulent actions with your bank card. Without this code, scammers won’t be able to make purchases with an external card by simply asking the credit card number. If the online store insistently asks you to set a CVV code, the scammer cannot make the purchase by simply entering the date of expiry of the card. However, now almost all customers are afraid to include this code, including when making purchases in reputable stores. They do not want to include this code, preferring to keep it a secret. Almost all Online operations are now executed through a number of security values. In this way, the cardholder often has to testify to the proper information:

  • the duration of the card exposure;
  • the name of the holder (in Latin);
  • CVVVV code.

All these 3 parameters must be the same. One of the most important advantages of the CVVVV in a credit card is that you do not actually test it with your fingers, because the numbers are absolutely flat, unlike the numbers of the cards. In order to eliminate the possibility of theft of funds from the card than any other to protect yourself. For this purpose, it is recommended to include a mobile bank in the card irrevocably. Information about any transaction made with the card will be immediately sent to your mobile phone. This will allow you to admit cheating and block the card immediately.

Briefly about the terminology

Synonyms for CVVVV (CVV2):

  • CVVVVC (verification price code of the card),
  • V-code, V-code (verification code),
  • CSC (Card Security Code),
  • CVD (card test data).

The CVVV code (CVC) is recorded on the magnetic strip of your bank card. The test is performed by the system when a person uses an ATM or terminal.

If you wish to send a photocopy or a payment card scan (sometimes required by, for example, bookmakers), code CVC2 (CVV2) must be covered with a piece of impermeable material.

The CVC2 code (CVV2) is not transferable (you do not have to give out photos of your bankcards on the Internet either), and in an unpleasant case the scammers will be able to pay for the purchases by stealing your card data.
